The Uruguayans finished fifth in the World Cup qualifying stage and beat out Costa Rica to secure a World Cup berth (something they failed to do four years ago). The two-time World Cup winners are not the South American powerhouse they use to be several decades ago but La Celeste are not going into this tournament just looking for a brief stint in Africa.
